Facilities
May 28th, 2010The physical make up of a school does not equate to the success of its’ educational program. But it does help!
Pope John Paul II school is fortunate to have the opportunity to open with modern, spacious classrooms already built and ready to use. Through a generous arrangement with St. Gabriel’s Church will we be utilizing three classrooms for teaching purposes. A beautiful worship space is just steps away from the classrooms. A commercial kitchen, convenient parking and handicapped facilities are all available on site.
Depending on enrollment growth, the classroom space should be adequate for our first two years of operation. In the meantime we will be aggressively moving forward to build a gymnatorium as our first structure of the new high school. In the next 3-5 years classrooms and office space will be constructed connecting to the new gymnatorium.
These classrooms may be permanent structures (brick and mortar) or modular “learning cottages” or some combination of the two depending on need and financing. Our model for the high school is the plans used at Annunciation school in Havelock and Pope John Paul II elementary school in Southern Pines. Ideally, within 5 years the entire school would be built out and fully utilized. The timetable for this project will depend on need, enrollment growth of the school and success of our development program.
Athletic fields will be constructed simultaneously with the school development. Soccer, football and baseball/ softball fields will be constructed as soon as possible. These would serve as practice and game fields. A permanent multipurpose athletic stadium is considered for future development.
